What Might Be Adjusted on Your Image on Arche Social?
There are three technical properties we may adjust on your picture.
- Image File Size: This is the amount of storage space an image file takes up. It's either measured in kilobytes or megabytes.
- Image Dimensions: your image measured in pixels. Written as width by height, this determines the shape and pixel grid of your picture.
- Image Format: This is the file type and method used to encode and store your image data. some common types are JPEG, PNG, GIF, & WEBP.
Bluesky Image Adjustments
Bluesky has one of the strictest platform rules on the internet. Let's take a look at their requirements:
File Size: 2MB maximum limit for images.
Dimensions: maximum resolution limit of 4000 x 4000 pixels
Formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP
Here's how Arche Social changes your image:
- Since Bluesky is strict, we enforce a 1.8MB safety limit. If your image is larger than 1.8MB, we will compress it so Bluesky doesn't reject your post.
- If your image is over 4000 pixels, we scale it down. We never crop your photos. You keep the same layout and aspect ratio.
- If you upload a .png image, we keep it as .png. This is to keep any images that have a transparent background. Non-standard formats are converted to .jpeg files.
Facebook Image Adjustments
Facebook is one of the more flexible ones, but still has recommendations:
File Size: A maximum file size limit of 8MB.
Dimensions: Flexible, with a global 4000-pixel safety cap (recommended feed posts are square 1080 x 1080 or portrait 1080 x 1350).
Formats: JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, or TIFF
Here's what we do to your image:
- We will compress your image size if it is larger than 8MB. If your image is under 8MB, we do not compress it.
- We will scale down your image if it exceeds the 4000-pixel safety cap.
- Non-standard formats will be converted to .jpeg.
Instagram Image Adjustments
Instagram is all about visual and strict about their presentation.
File Size: Maximum file size limit of 8MB
Dimensions: Flexible, with a global 4000-pixel safety cap (strictly prefers 1:1, 4:5, or 1.91:1 ratios).
Formats: JPEG, PNG, and GIF
Here's what we do to your image:
- We will compress your image size if it is larger than 8MB. If your image is under 8MB, we do not compress it.
- We will scale down your image if it exceeds the 4000-pixel safety cap.
- Non-standard formats will be converted to .jpeg.
Linkedin Image Adjustments
Linkedin focuses on professional media and documents:
File Size: Strict API limit of 5MB for single image posts.
Dimensions: Flexible, with a global 4000-pixel safety cap
Formats: JPG, PNG, and GIF
Here's what we do to your image:
- Because Linkedin's ceiling is 5MB, we will compress it under 5MB
- We will scale down your image if it exceeds the 4000-pixel safety cap.
- Non-standard formats will be converted to .jpeg.
Mastodon Image Adjustments
Mastodon has a lenient file size requirement, however dimensions can cause issues. Let's take a look:
File Size: 8MB to 16MB depending on server
Dimensions: maximum resolution limit of 3840 x 2160
Formats: PNG, JPG, HEIF, WEBP, AVIF
Here's what we do to your image:
- We will compress your image size if it is larger than 8MB. If your image is under 8MB, we do not compress it.
- We will scale down your image if it exceeds the 4000-pixel safety cap.
- Non-standard formats will be converted to .jpeg.
Pinterest Image Adjustments
Pinterest is all about discovery and vertical layouts:
File Size: Maximum file size limit of 8MB via our processing engine
Dimensions: 4000-pixel safety cap
Formats: JPEG, PNG, WEBP, and GIF
Here's what we do to your image:
- If need be, we will compress your image size if it is over 8MB
- we will scale down your image if it exceeds the 4000-pixel safety cap.
- Non-standard formats will be converted to .jpeg.
Threads Image Adjustments
Threads is very similar to how Instagram operates
File Size: Maximum file size limit of 8MB.
Dimensions: Flexible, with a global 4000-pixel safety cap (aspect ratio must stay between 1:10 and 10:1).
